“Cuniberti’s mixing and mastering is so top-notch that it has raised my standards again and again of what a great mix should sound like. On any stereo system, for whomever I play it, John’s mixes leap out of the speakers and grab people by the ears. The professional quality is unmistakable, and hearing raw sessions transformed by the Cuniberti-treatment is one of the most exciting parts of the album-making process. There’s no one else I trust with the critical task of turning a recorded song into a great listening experience! Hear it for yourself.”

“Few years ago Bill Gould(FNM) recommended John Cuniberti for the mastering of my band’s first self release- “Live in Europe”. We were very pleased with the result, so consequently he worked on our 2009 release “Integration” LP and the 2012 EP “Tales of Grandpa Guru, Vol1”. For a self- produced, self- financed and self- released band like Kultur Shock, it was extremely important to find a mastering partner who is able to not just do the work for a fair price, but to help bridge the gap between the sound of a DIY label like ours, and the major label releases. He did that.I personally love John’s approach to mastering, especially in the complex sound of my band, which swings wildly from punk/ metal to lyrical Balkan music driven parts. Somehow he is always been able to decipher artist’s intention and use all the tools in the box to “unpack” and redefine the mix to it’s best, retain the stereo field, make it loud, clear and present, while preserving it’s musicality. What can I say- John is our man:)”

“When it came time for Boot Rooster to master their first CD, Country Enough, a trusted friend recommended John Cuniberti and I’m glad he did. John was quick to offer advice, provided a test master and his efforts resulted in a final mastered project that sounds terrific! No nasty surprises, extremely helpful, and an honest rate. In my opinion everyone who has invested the time, energy, and money in their music owes it to themselves (and their music) to hire a professional mastering engineer for that last crucial step and I highly recommend John Cuniberti. Thanks for the great job John!”

“John Cuniberti is the “Master” of mastering. Artistically, he hears the potential of your mix, and then has the technology and skill to take it there. I have worked with John on a number of projects including my latest CD Soundtrack For America. Marc Cooper co-produced this with me and we gave John a vast array of sounds to bring into one listening zone…….from solo piano to Indian bird whistles, roots guitar to symphonic strings, wind and rain to bagpipes and gunfire. John brought it all together sonically so you can listen to the whole project without needing to adjust the volume. The guy is amazing.”

“We recorded our demo in less than ideal conditions: home studios, portable recorders, and any available microphone. John Cuniberti’s mastering took our project to a level way beyond the final mix. His turn around time and responsiveness was fast and professional. I hope to have John master the next project I do.”

“John Cuniberti watches over your albums like the analog godfather and digital Jedi. John has mastered two very different albums for me – one a mostly instrumental fusion-rock album of my band, Hectic Watermelon, with Jerry Goodman, and the latest, a 52-minute through-composed jazz-rock adventure with Marco Minnemann that subdivides into 20 tracks. John mastered the Hectic Watermelon album at his old studio at The Plant, and the most recent album, West ZooOpolis, at his new studio in Oakland. Both projects presented their own unique difficulties for a mastering engineer, and in each case, John’s mastered album exceeded my expectations in all ways! John’s deep experience, untiring work ethic, and Zen-like mastering philosophy will help guide a mastering that highlights your own musical vision.”

“When it was time for me to take my recordings more seriously and move into the professional realm, John Cuniberti was the first choice of my producer, Alec Palao. With fresh ears, all the right tools and tons of experience, Cuniberti, was able to make my latest CD, Vinyl Wings of Joy, flow and sparkle without sacrificing any of the original creative intent or vision. Communication with John was flawless and the product he delivered was impeccably professional.”

“After working with John Cuniberti for many years at the Plant I was overjoyed to hear his new facility had been built and John’s work wouldn’t close down with the Plant. As far as I was concerned I was fortunate enough to have found the world’s leading mastering engineer. What I found placed him ahead of the other top guys I had used in both the US and UK was his vast knowledge of both recording / engineering and the artist mentality, he fully understands the process and drama that has occurred before the mix arrives in his hands and will do his damnedest to make it work and be the premier it can ever be. For me, wether it be the dance, trance, techno side of “Angelface” or the in your face industrial metal of our “Torque Twins” John’s work is always exemplary and in turn makes any producer concentrate harder to work towards a great mix.
With John’s new work method the process has actually become even simpler, as opposed to taking a trip out to the North bay the upload, approve and submit system is genius! I can now submit and receive mixes straight to the UK in whatever format I need… CHEERS JOHN!
It has always been my opinion that good mastering makes or breaks a project, great mastering is hard to explain it simply just works, the record sounds like it should, it is dynamic and exciting without being fatiguing. We are all aware that with “home mastering”, plugins and limiters that some people think they don’t need or can’t afford pro mastering… I would say in John’s case and with A&Rs short attention span .. ” you can’t afford NOT to!” After all who in their right mind wouldn’t want their art to sound as good as it possibly could!”

“We had a very short but intense and very professional experience of mastering of our new, fourth album “Against The Gravity” with John. Bill Gould (our producer) and the team from Radio Star Studios recommended John and we are very pleased with all aspects of his way of work. The master sounds exactly what we wanted to sound like.”
